Osteopathy during pregnancy

Pregnancy transforms the body within a matter of months. Hormones, posture, breathing and circulation adapt to the body’s growing needs. This can lead to symptoms such as back or pelvic pain, restricted breathing, heartburn or muscle tension.

Osteopathy can support the body during this time using gentle manual techniques. The aim of the treatment is to reduce tension, improve the mobility of various tissues and support the body as it adapts to pregnancy. Many pregnant women also find the treatment soothing and relieving.

Osteopathy after childbirth

After childbirth, the body enters an intensive phase of regeneration and postnatal recovery. Ailments such as pelvic floor problems, back, pelvic or coccyx pain, as well as tension around caesarean or perineal scars, may occur during this time.

Osteopathic techniques can be used to treat restricted movement and tension, helping the body through the postnatal recovery process and supporting its functions.

Where appropriate, and with your consent, I will also carry out an intravaginal pelvic floor assessment. During the examination, I assess, amongst other things, strength, coordination, the ability to relax and any pain in the pelvic floor. The examination forms the basis for personalised recommendations and – if necessary – a tailored exercise programme to strengthen or relax the pelvic floor.
